Al Maktoum AgriTech Group revolutionises Food Security and Climate Action by sustainably growing food in a controlled environment with Carbon off-setting!
Al Maktoum AgriTech Group (AAG) emerges as a pioneering force, dedicated to tackling two pressing global challenges: food security and carbon emissions. Under the leadership of CEO Karl Ahmed, a visionary entrepreneur, AAG harnesses cutting-edge methodologies developed by his acclaimed ventures, FishVeg and Oxford Biochar, both based in the UK. The collaboration was inspired by UAE's vision to green the desert while growing food in a sustainable way.
FishVeg, an innovative aquaculture enterprise, stands at the forefront of sustainable food production. By utilizing state-of-the-art technology powered by oM-grid energy and abstaining from GMO seeds, FishVeg cultivates premium-quality produce through a unique approach. Employing fish as natural nutrient suppliers and AI technology to manage farm operations, FishVeg yields an array of nutritious vegetables, proteins, and microgreens. For every acre of FishVeg technology, you save 90% of the water used and grow 21 times more food compared to traditional farming.
Complementing FishVeg's efforts, Oxford Biochar contributes expertise in biochar manufacturing, a powerful tool for environmental restoration. Biochar, hailed as a 'magic bullet' in climate mitigation, enriches soil fertility, purifies water, and sequesters carbon emissions. By repurposing locally sourced waste into biochar, the process not only generates electricity for its operations but also revitalizes arid landscapes, transforming sandy fields into thriving ecosystems.
Mr. Ahmed expresses his enthusiasm for the venture, stating, "The collaboration with Al Maktoum Investment Group marks a significant milestone in advancing sustainability in the UAE. This initiative epitomizes our commitment to creating a circular economy, revolutionizing food production while rejuvenating desert landscapes.” Our Biochar is created from waste sourced locally that would normally be unused; the production of this material will contribute to creating electricity for the farm and be used to regenerate acres of sandy fields.
In addition to its environmental and economic benefits, Al Maktoum AgriTech Group prioritizes community engagement and education. Through outreach programs and training workshops, we will empower local communities to adopt sustainable farming practices, fostering resilience and self-sufficiency.
Mr. Ahmed, along with Peter Kudera, MENA Ambassador of FishVeg, presented the project to the Al Maktoum Investment Group at the COP28 climate change conference. Al Maktoum AgriTech Group will start its fundraising activities at the grand Business Forum event, Expo City, Dubai on the 27th & 28th of April 2024! We look forward to seeing you there to discuss the project in more detail.
